I absolutely adored this book! I wasn’t sure what to think when I was handed a historical book that was also somehow still a time traveling tale but BOY, was I taken for a ride I won’t forget.
I haven’t been this emotionally invested in a book in a long time and it was honestly such a nice experience.
This book actually takes place in two of my all time favorite time periods to read and while the beginning was a smidge slow (not bad at all) the rest of the book continued spiraling with more and more suspense.
The time traveling element was so realistically done and easy to understand that it didn’t’ take me out of the story, but instead, added so much depth to the story of how both timelines worked together and influenced the other.
Libby was such a relatable character and I could really empathize with so much of what she was going through. She was such a vivid character and the weight of the struggles she encountered in both of her lives created such a high stakes experience that I won’t soon forget.
AND THAT TWIST. I was utterly gobsmacked. In all of the best ways. I HIGHLY recommend this book and am anxiously awaiting book two!
With themes of forgiveness, surrender, trust, and the strength of a quiet and gentle spirit this book was filled with hope and encouragement for the soul as well as a gripping story of sacrifice and hope.
Content: I was totally fine with the content and it was nearly what I would classify as clean. Plot wise, there were some moments where it was clear by tactful hinting that a character was taken advantage of more than once. We see some of the emotional fall out of this and while it does occur, it was closed door and tasteful. But if that is something that bothers or triggers you, be forewarned.
